They noted that many patients reported feeling better after the sessions. However, the review also highlighted significant limitations in the available research, including small patient groups and a lack of standardised protocols, making it difficult to draw firm conclusions about long term benefits or its effect on the disease process itself [3].
Other research has focused on the underlying physiological responses. For instance, one study investigated the effects of ten cryostimulation sessions on healthy men [1]. The reason for this is that the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA), the body that decides which services are covered by statutory insurance, has not found sufficient high level evidence to include it in the standard catalogue of benefits. As we have seen, while research is ongoing, it has not yet reached the threshold required for universal public funding.
This means you should expect to pay for the sessions yourself. The cost for a single session can vary, but often ranges from around €30 to €60.
